Drug Eluting Ballon ( PAD ) | Peripheral & Venous Treatment

EXTENDER

How common are peripheral arterial and venous disases?

It is estimated that about 30% of the total adult population has some aspects of the Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI). Frequency of the Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) in the adult population is 4% – 5 %.

What is Extender ?

Extender  is latest generation paclitaxel-eluting ballon catheter for peripheral interventions. It is used in peripheral artery diseases.Extender  is a novel device for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), which has demonstrated favorable outcome due to its peculiar characteristic of a high-concentration, rapid local delivery of an antirestenotic drug without the use of a durable polymer or metal stent.

Extender  is used for the treatment of coronary and peripheral vessels with balloon structure that performs drug release at the tip. In the interventional treatment of fem-pop coronary and peripheral artery disease, treats by providing rapid and effective drug eluting.

The drug-elut-ing PTA Balloon Catheter is coated with 3μg of PAKLITAXEL active agent per mm2 in a degradable release matrix at the balloon surface.

What are the benefits of this treatment?

Less drug localization in the vessel wall Large surface area and Leaveno implants, Accessible to complex lesions and long segments,  Less reqirement of prolonged DAPT.

3 μg/mm2   dosage

<2 μg/m particles

Contrast Medis as a drug carrier

Minimum drug loose during delivery

< 90 % drug transfer to the target

How does the treatment work?

With inflation of the balloon, this drug-coated surface is contacted to the vessel wall and the transfer to the vessel’s vascular surface is ensured. Performs treatment with release.

What can a patient expect from a Consultation?

All patients should have a history examination of the veins and also undergo an ultrasound scan to locate where the veins are in the leg.
